Couple of Qs about trying out GW
Hello,
I am a WoW player and someone suggested I try out Guild Wars. I bought 3 trial keys for $3 giving me around 30 hours to try various things out. My question is what are the things that I should try out first? In WoW I like Warlock the best class to play and Eversong Woods a good place to start at. Any suggestions for Guild Wars? If I want to play only 10 hours, should I go with Factions or Nightfall? (Or just let me know if there are any terrible choices that I should avoid, I will pick something from the rest.) The client is also downloading tons of files after every character selection I make(PvE, PvP, NightFall, etc.), does this time count under my trial period? Is there a place to download the full, latest version of the client? Waiting for the downloads just before starting the game is frustrating and the download client also disconnects a lot(code 007?). Thanks! |

a couple of things you need to know
for each trail key you will have to make serpate acounts then about loading things and not hacing loading screens there somethign called -image do this so it dont coutn as play time so you can get the most out of the game to do this right click on the guildwars icon on your desk top click properties after that copy this dont add anythign extra "C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -image once you have copied it . atm it should have the following in the target line "C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" replace that with the part i told you to copy, once you have changed the target line to what i have said click ok or apply, then double click the guildwars icon on yoru desk top , then go afk for about 1 hour note when you open guild atm you willsee a download screen , once that done downloading ,, you have added all parts to the dat file. now you can run guildawars with no load screens now when you try to start guildwars it will not start like its soppose too , to fix this go back to the target line right click guildwars go to properties then replace the target line with the following "C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" now as far where to start from mostly it dont matter unless you want to be a paragon dervish sin or rit thos eyou will have to start from a certain game there is lots to do in guildwars and its a different kind of grind then wow but you shoul denjoy it much more then wow |

Ah, nice, thanks for the tip, it is downloading 99K files now, hope there will be minimal downloading in the future(for updates).
Should I play Factions or Nightfall? |

Factions, hands down. Nightfall will make you hate Guild Wars.

Given the short amount of time you have, I'd say Factions but story-wise I prefer Nightfall... it's just a little slow paced early on.

The trick therangereminem said is useful if you dont have access to the game disks.
If you like Warlocks, the GW equivelent is a Necromancer. Start in Faction, as Capua said, NF is slow paced at the start. GW is less of a grind compared to WoW unless your going for ceratin titles. Id also reccomend trying out some PvP at come point, Competetive Missions or Random Arenas are the best places to start. |
